The international contacts of Września District have a considerably long history. They started long before the official agreements were signed. The first to get in touch with foreign partners were the local schools. In that way the cooperation between Września District and Landkreis Wolfenbuttel (Lower Saxony) began. The official contacts between the local authorities started in spring 1999 and two years later the partnership agreement on cooperation was entered into. The partnership settlement with Belorussian region Smolewicze was reached in 2003.

The most vital common projects are following:
  • the pupils' yearly exchange and care over the evangelical-augsburgian cemetery in Sokolniki - young people from Vocational Polytechnic School and Carl-Gotthard-Langhans-Schule,
  • Polish-German Days - in 2004 event held in Wolfenbuttel, in 2006 in Września District,
  • Co-operation Office and Youth Leaders project, created by young people from Germany and Poland,
  • Multilateral Youth Exchange held from 2001, with young participants from Wolfenbuttel (Germany), Rhondda (Wales), Cachan (France) and Września,
  • Polish-German painter's open air (September 2008 - Września District, July 2009 - Wolfenbuttel District),
  • Eurotreff project - International Festival of Choirs and Youth Woodwind Orchestras - Wolfenbuttel 2009.
Our boroughs co-operate with foreign partners as well: Września with Garbsen in Germany and Bruz in France, Miłosław with Bergen in Holland.
